Our Vision and Mission

Mission Statement

Rogue Theater Company (RTC) is dedicated to presenting thought-provoking plays that inspire, entertain, and illuminate our common humanity.

A Note from Artistic Director Jessica Sage

Rogue Theater Company was launched in 2019, and our team works in a collaborative environment. From Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s artists past and present, to the vast pool of extraordinary talent throughout the valley, our vision is to encourage dialogue, generate empathy, and inspire curiosity.  Theater plays a crucial role in creating a better society. In the experience of theater, we witness differences, recognize commonalities, and learn empathy. Theater has the capacity to be personal and intimate—to create palpable emotional connections between the performers and audience members in real time. RTC is committed to bringing art to life by exciting the hearts and minds of our audiences. As one of actor Lily Tomlin’s characters says, “We go to the theater to get a goose-bump experience.” We hope this is your experience after having attended one of our productions. Lights up!

Values

We are an Actors' Equity Small Professional Theater dedicated to creating a workplace environment that is equitable, diverse, and inclusive. We do not engage in discrimination, harassment, or unwelcome conduct based on an individual's race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion, disability, citizenship, or immigration status.

Giving Back

RTC is dedicated to giving back to the community, and the opening of each play benefits local non-profits. Past recipients include Planned Parenthood SW Oregon, the Maslow Project, Community Works, the Almeda Fire Relief efforts, Resolve Center for Dispute Resolution and Restorative Justice, Southern Oregon Coalition for Racial Equity, Project De La Raíz, the Ashland Food Project, Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS), and Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA). We’ve made the unprecedented decision to donate a portion of all our openings to Planned Parenthood SW Oregon. We also offer complimentary and discount tickets to the staff, board, and volunteers of this organization.

Additionally, RTC offers complimentary tickets and prefaces to students and teachers from neighboring high schools and colleges.
