COLLECTED STORIES

Read by Renée Hewitt, Hazel James, and Pam Ward

This highly acclaimed play, by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies and directed by Jessica Sage, explores the intricate relationship between a prominent writer and her promising student.

AUDIENCE TESTIMONIALS

My four friends and myself all agreed: This was an engrossing play. The actors were superb. The subject matter of professor and student and their relationship over time is a mythological tale that is fascinating, complex, difficult at times, and leaves room for lots of commentary among friends after the play is over.      ~Shannon R.

My wife and I enjoyed the Collected Stories presentation.  It was well organized, with serious attention to social spacing.  The two actors really brought the characters to life and it felt more like a play than a reading. This has been a very difficult time for live theatre and it was nice to have an outdoor venue for those of us who aren’t quite ready to move indoors.  I hope others are able to attend in person or via stream. We look forward to other performances in the future.   ~David and Pat E.

In its mission statement, Rogue Theater Company declares its dedication to present “thought-provoking plays that inspire, entertain, and illuminate our common humanity.”  With its current offering, “Collected Stories,” the company manages to do just that.  With top-notch actors illuminating a compelling script, I left the performance with so much to ponder and already look forward to future productions from this wonderful community asset.  Highly recommended!         ~Irving L.

Enjoyed a wonderful theatrical experience on the lovely lawn at Grizzly Peak Winery. The staged reading was performed by two talented women —the play is well written, the dialogue crisp and real, and the story is layered and holds your attention throughout. Rogue Theater Company has hit another one out of the park.   ~Dickie W.

Thank you for choosing "Collected Stories," a smart, compelling play that is beautifully acted. I was mesmerized, glued to every word. The lovely setting, the appreciative audience, the friendly atmosphere, the great script — what better way to spend a Thursday afternoon? Anyone on the fence about going to see "Collected Stories" needs to buy a ticket and GO!    ~Pam T.

I very much enjoyed “Collected Stories”. I thought the acting was spot on and the setting is lovely. Thanks for creating such a professional theatre experience during the COVID nightmare.  ~Dotty O.

A friend and I attended the performance of "Collected Stories" produced by the Rogue Theater Company and held on the lovely grounds of Grizzly Peak Winery. I found the actors to be engaging with each owning their part and working well to create truly convincing and natural conversation. It was a bit like eavesdropping, listening in on the lives of these two women. I would definitely like to see more of this sort of entertainment with the social distancing .   ~Shirley P.

I thoroughly enjoyed today's performance of "Collected Stories".  The actors were amazing and the writing was superb. I loved the outdoor setting and felt very safe with the spacing. The sound was excellent. I'd like to say more about the play itself but don't want to be a spoiler. All in all a perfect afternoon.  ~Bobbie K.

True to Rogue Theater Company's mission statement, the play is thought provoking, beautifully human, and wonderfully humorous. Thanks for creating beautiful theatre!   ~Todd N.

Thank heavens for Rogue Theater Company, Jessica Sage, and Grizzly Peak Winery!   Yesterday’s reading of “Collected Stories” was just the kind of wonderful performance in a beautiful setting that I’m squirreling away in my memory to get me through this winter.   ~Susan H.

We had a unique theater experience under Oak trees, aided by a perfect sound system, and in the shadow of Grizzly Peak.  What fun!    ~Brian B.

The performance was compelling in both the dynamic acting and the thought-provoking themes of the play. So good to attend live theatre again. Bouquets to Jessica and the incredible cast.   ~Judy D.

Thank you, Rogue Theater Company, for your continuing perseverance.  You’ve taken a bit of the sting out of a painful year.   ~Rich K.

From the first word to the last telephone ring in this thought-provoking piece, I was totally absorbed, and forgot that we were watching actors play roles, so real was the portrayal.  So beautifully acted, as if they had been written specifically for Renée Hewlett and Hazel James. Kudos!    ~Alice M.

I'm a big fan of Rogue Theater Company. I trust that the plays chosen will be innovative and timely, and that the acting will be amazing.  ~Liisa I.

Excellent story well-told about the creative process and interpersonal relationships. Don’t miss it!  ~Darryl M.
